Solutions (MES) is looking for a Traffic Sign Designer to join our
team! MES is a multifaceted utility and telecommunications
engineering firm serving clients throughout the Midwest. The
Traffic Sign Designer is responsible for working effectively in a
variety of computer systems and software applications while
providing internal and power utility clients with utility design
services and solutions needed to accurately create traffic signs.
Key Responsibilities: Design and Produce Traffic Control Signs from
start to finish, ensuring compliance with MUTCD and local
regulations. Operate and maintain wide-format plotters, rollover
tables, laminators, and other production equipment. Use Flexi
software and other sign design tools to create accurate, scalable
layouts for regulatory, warning, and custom signage. Apply vinyl to
various sign substrates using proper alignment and finishing
techniques. Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure durability
and legibility of produced signs. Assist with field installation
and inspection of temporary and permanent traffic control signs as
needed. Work closely with engineering, operations, and field crews
to meet project timelines and ensure customer satisfaction.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in both shop
and field settings. Requirements: 1–3 years of experience in
traffic sign production, fabrication, or related field. Proficiency
with vinyl cutting/printing, Flexi software, and plotter operation.
Familiarity with rollover tables and their use in sign construction
is highly preferred. Ability to read and interpret sign plans,
traffic control layouts, and technical drawings. Knowledge of
Temporary Traffic Control standards is a plus. Comfortable working
in a shop setting and occasionally outdoors in varying weather
conditions. Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet tight
deadlines. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. OSHA or
other relevant safety certifications are a plus.
