Learn more about Tome at http://www.tomesoftware.com.About the Automotive AOSP Team:The Automotive AOSP team at Tome is an expanding group whose mission is to help automotive OEMs build innovative experiences in the vehicle powered by Android Automotive, a burgeoning solution for building powerful IVI (In-Vehicle Infotainment) experiences.Job Responsibilities: Many of our upcoming projects involve Android Open Source Project (AOSP), Android Automotive (AAOS), and Google Automotive Services (GAS). This includes:

  • System app development
    • Creating system apps for a custom Android image that may include framework APIs that only system apps have access to
    • System service development
      • Create custom system services that improve and expand mainline Android functionality
      • AOSP image customization
        • Create custom Android images that will run in the HMI of a vehicle that enable experiences not possible in mainline AndroidPre-qualifications:
          • Love writing code and analyzing data
          • Ability to think on your feet and solve complex problems
          • Four-year degree (BS/MS) in computer science, engineering, or a related field
          • Minimum of 3 years of professional software engineering employment required
          • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
          • This position is based in our downtown Royal Oak, MI office. About half of the staff at Tome are working from home, but we prefer local people for ad hoc in-person meetings (e.g. with clients, to work on hardware, staff meetings, etc)Qualifications
            • Must have significant, specific experience developing Android applications in Kotlin (preferred) or Java
              • Experience with modern Android software patterns such as the repo pattern, MVVM, etc strongly preferred
              • Must have passing knowledge of custom AOSP work such as building Android images, creating system services, and modifying existing framework API behavior
              • Must be passionate about all things mobility and/or open source software
              • Must have experience with software architecture and feature design
              • Must be a risk-taker, comfortable with rapid prototyping and learning new and unfamiliar technologies to create awesome user experiencesMake sure to tell us if you have these bonus skills:
                • Automotive software development experience, especially ADAS systems or V2X messaging or mechanisms
                • Experience with developing within QNX environments
