We are looking for an experienced building performance (energy modeling) professional to join our Sustainability team.

You will join our Project and Development Services team in the Central Region of the US (location flexible, preferred: Chicago IL, Dallas/Houston/Austin TX, Minneapolis MN, Indianapolis IN, Pittsburgh PA, Detroit MI, Cleveland OH).

As a Project Manager, Net Zero Design at JLL, you will support the Sustainable Assets and Consulting vertical to deliver challenging projects. You will become a member of our Net Zero Design & Delivery team, specializing in the strategic advisement and technical guidance of Net Zero Carbon (NZC) buildings and portfolios.

We are gathering the best talent in the industry and creating a leading NZC team that, together with other JLL business lines, provide our clients with the strategy and technical expertise needed to achieve net zero across assets and portfolios.

We are looking for a teammate who is accountable, proactive, collaborative, a self-starter, and demonstrates enthusiasm for implementing innovative ideas.

What this job involves

* A passion for sustainability.

* Creating building performance analysis and energy models for both new and existing assets.

* Developing and automating workflows to prepare portfolio-level decarbonization pathways for our clients at a national or global scale.

* Communicating results and strategies across stakeholders, markets, and functions.

* Reviewing existing buildings from site surveys, as-built information, energy bills, and research; quantifying a building's key energy performance factors.

* Developing concept and schematic design concepts for NZC buildings.

* Preparation of NZC briefs, feasibility studies, drawings, diagrams, and specifications.

* Working with JLL's in-house cost management team to evaluate cost-efficient NZC design solutions.

* Working with colleagues across JLL to help shape our comprehensive NZC market offer.

* Engagement with ASHRAE, IBPSA, the DOE National Laboratories, and other third-party entities.

Minimum Requirements:

* Degree required in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.

* Experience with HVAC system design and load calculations for equipment sizing.

* Minimum two years of related experience in high-performance building modeling, including but not limited to ASHRAE 90.1 energy modeling, local energy code calculation, parametric design modeling, and operational carbon calculations.

* Experience and knowledge of whole building energy modeling and simulation software, particularly OpenStudio and EnergyPlus.

* Understanding of high performance and zero carbon building principles and technologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

Technical experience:

* Coding and scripting (VBA, Ruby, Python)

* Creating OpenStudio measures using Ruby.

* Using Python libraries (pandas, Plotly, etc.) for data analysis and visualization.

* Building design software such as Revit, Rhino, etc.

* Working with parametric design workflows (e.g., Parametric Analysis Tool, Grasshopper, etc.).


* Evaluating carbon reduction measures, including envelope improvements, HVAC systems, and configurations.

* Life Cycle Cost Analysis compliant with NIST Handbook 135.

* Building energy codes and standards include but are not limited to ASHRAE Standard 90.1, ASHRAE Standard 62.1, and the International Energy Conservation Code.

* Knowledge of third-party rating systems such as LEED, Living Building Challenge, or EnergyStar.

* Ability to manage various projects, company responsibilities, and deadlines while maintaining professionalism and quality.

* A strong balance of technical and interpersonal skills; an ability to interact with external and internal client stakeholders and external team members, in addition to the technical expertise

* Drive and a positive attitude

* Entrepreneurial spirit, agility, organization, problem-solving, and strong analytical skills

* Excellent oral and written communication skills

* Additional certifications/licenses, e.g., PE, ASHRAE BEMP, CEM, LEED AP BD+C, are a plus.
