Apply Today!*GENERAL SUMMARY: *Under direct general supervision of the registered nurse and following hospital policy and procedure, provides nursing care to patients. Implements nursing care procedures, evaluates patient progress, and assists in modification of care plan as necessary. Provides teaching to patients and their families. While actual responsibilities and duties may vary depending upon the clinical area assigned, the following are typical of duties that would be performed, under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse.*ESSENTIAL DUTIES: **Assists with the assessment of nursing needs of patients and records observations on the nursing care plan.Renders nursing care (i.e., administering medication, monitoring IVs, performing treatments, etc.) as delegated.Provides for the psycho-social needs of the patient (i.e., anticipating fears, concerns, changes in lifestyle).Performs a variety of complex treatments or nursing procedures such as changing dressings, cleansing or irrigating wounds and incisions, performing catheterizations, changing ostomies, etc.Communicates problems to the Registered Nurse as observed providing precise patient documentation on charting.Assists the physician with examination and treatment, prepares the patient and passes instruments, equipment and supplies.Provides trach care, suctioning and decubitus care when needed.Ensures the optimum utilization of supplies and equipment.As a team member, under supervision of the Registered Nurse, serves as a resource for other members of the team (such as NA, NT).STANDARD REQUIREMENTS: **Supports the Mission, Value and Vision of Beaumont Health (BH). Supports and participates with all required compliance standards that may be department specific and/or identified by the organizations including in-service training, acceptable attendance, uniform and dress code.Adheres to HIPAA requirements and maintains confidentiality of all data, including patient/resident, employee and operations information.Supports and participates in a collaborative team oriented environment - cooperates and works together with all co-workers, plans and completes job duties, uses appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations and follows up as appropriate regarding reported complaints, problems and concerns.Supports, cooperates with and demonstrates safe work practices and attitudes, follows safety rules - including universal precautions - reports and prevents/corrects unsafe conditions and behaviors, and participates in organizational and departmental safety programs.Completes all required compliance standards that may be department specific and/or identified by the organization.Maintains current licensure, registration and/or certification, as applicable, at all times.STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS*To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Completion of pharmacology course work (NAPNES or minimum documented 32 hours).Certification, Licensure, Registration:Active and unrestricted Licensed Practice Nurse license in the State of Michigan. Successful Healthcare Provider course completion.Other Qualifications:Requires interpersonal skills adequate to explain procedures and calm fears of patients and families, exchange patient information with physicians, nursing staff and other hospital staff.
