Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak
Beaumont, Royal Oak opened on January 24, 1955, as a 238-bed
community hospital. Today, the hospital serves as the largest
hospital in the Beaumont network. This is a 1,131-bed major
academic and referral center with Level I adult trauma and Level II
pediatric trauma designations. Beaumont, Royal Oak has 44 residency
and fellowship programs with 481 residents and fellows. Beaumont is
the exclusive clinical partner of the Oakland University William
Beaumont School of Medicine with more than 1,400 Beaumont doctors

GENERAL SUMMARY:
In collaboration with the Transplant Services medical, surgical and
administrative leadership the Kidney Transplant Outreach Specialty
RN will develop, monitor and execute the outreach development
initiatives for Beaumont Health System's Kidney Transplantation
Program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
In collaboration with the Transplant Services medical, surgical and
administrative leadership, the Outreach Transplant Nurse Clinician
will develop, monitor and execute the outreach development
initiatives for Beaumont's Kidney Transplant Program.
--- Educates end-stage renal disease patients and their families
about kidney transplantation as a treatment option for their kidney
failure
--- Develops and maintains outreach programs that foster positive
relationships between the Beaumont Kidney Transplant Program and
referring physicians and dialysis unit staff
--- Collaborates with transplant nephrologists/surgeons to
coordinate outreach events and activities with goal of growing the
kidney transplant program
--- Works with marketing to develop and maintain educational and
promotional materials
--- Develops and implements action plans related to improving
client relationships
--- Able to collect and maintain Quality data to track number of
referrals, evaluations, candidate listings and transplants
performed to monitor program outcomes
--- Utilizes computer systems to maintain multiple databases to
assist with referral tracking and statistics
--- Collaborates with Transplant Program Coordinator for
coordination/management of triaging referrals
--- Collaborates with pre-transplant Nurse Coordinators for
clinical information updates/issues about patient
evaluations/listings
--- Establishes and Maintains contact with referring
nephrologists/NPs to generate referrals and coordinate care of our
mutual patients
--- Interacts with dialysis units and referring physicians to
educate about kidney transplantation, generate referrals, and to
schedule outreach events and activities
--- Provides clinical coverage and assists as needed with the
management of the pre-transplant kidney candidate clinic visits
--- Sends quarterly patient status reports to referring MDs and
dialysis units to communicate patients' transplant statuses
--- Attends kidney transplant selection committee meetings and
Transplant Grand Rounds
--- Participates in patient/family Educational Seminars and other
related activities
--- Participates in Community activities relating to fund raising
and marketing/outreach
--- Active member of the Transplant QAPI Multidisciplinary
Committee
--- Assists with transplant waitlist management
--- Assists with peer mentoring program

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to
perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed
below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability

A. Education / Training: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and
active/valid Michigan Registered Nurse License. BLS
certification.
B. Work Experience:
--- Two (2) years experience in all or any of the following:
transplant, nephrology and dialysis
--- Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint
--- Excellent problem solving, organization, interpersonal and
communication skills
--- Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with
multi-disciplinary team members
C. Certification, Licensure, Registration:
--- Commitment to take certification exam within two (2) years and
maintain certification via continuing education. Nephrology (CNN)
or Transplant (CCTC) Certification.
D. Optional Qualifications:
--- Knowledge of transplant regulatory compliance requirements
--- Knowledge of agencies that regulate transplant services
--- Basic understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance as
they relate to transplants
