GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of MRI
technologist; the student MRI technologist will scan with a
registered technologist at all times, according to established
policies and procedures performs diagnostic MR exams utilizing
appropriate imaging equipment and techniques. Follow Beaumont
philosophy of Patient and Family Centered Care at all times.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 1. Assist with the verification of patient
identification and physician order. Provides procedural
information/education to the patient/family prior to each exam.
Acquires an accurate patient history and documents in the medical
record.2. Assist in ensuring that the MRI safety form is completed
by patient/designee/floor RN. Review the information with the MRI
technologist and patient/designee immediately prior to patient
entering MRI scanning room.3. Safely and proficiently operates MR
imaging equipment.4. Places IV's as required for injection of
contrast media.5. Under direct supervision of a registered MRI
technologist, performs procedures according to MR protocols.
Performs MRI and related patient care procedures using age
appropriate methods for patient's physical ability and/or
limitations.6. Under direct supervision, will assist with
monitoring of the patient during examination to ensure their safety
while in the MR Suite.7. Assists with the communication of STAT
requests are relayed to radiologist in a timely manner.8. Assists
with wiping down of equipment between patients and ensures exam
room is clean and properly stocked with linen and supplies.9. Uses
effective inter/intra-departmental communication and participation
with medical staff, management, technical and support staff
STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS Graduate of Joint Review Committee on
Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) Accredited Radiography
program. 2 years of experience in Radiology recommended, not
mandatory Currently enrolled in MRI program and possess 2 months of
MRI clinical training at Beaumont Health. Certification by American
Registry of Radiologic Technologists, RT (R) working towards (MR).
Basic Life Support Certification for Healthcare Providers at hire
