Job Description:
GENERAL SUMMARY:The Aquatic Program Coordinator manages and
leads the arthritis exercise groups and independent swim program.
Maintains awareness of health and safety issues of all participants
in the arthritis exercise groups and independent swim program. This
position has the responsibility for all activities related to the
2,400 sq foot therapeutic pool operations and operates
independently of the Therapy based program.ESSENTIAL DUTIES:1.
Coordinates class schedules and manages scheduling, payments, and
paperwork for all participants in the arthritis exercise groups and
independent swim program.2. Manage daily operations of the
therapeutic pool, including cleaning of all equipment, submitting
work orders for maintenance, and identifying equipment needs.3.
Designs and implements exercises for the arthritis exercise group
participants; Makes modifications depending on the size of the
group and special needs of participants.4. Coordination of
instructor coverage of arthritis exercise group and independent
swim group while keeping the supervisors informed.5. Trains pool
volunteers to assist with groups.6. May assist therapists with
equipment and patient care as needed.This document represents the

--- High School diploma or equivalent required.B. Work
Experience:
--- Experience in hospital/physician office preferred.C.
Certification, Licensure, Registration:
--- Lifeguard Management course certification (Red Cross) required
within 30-days of start date.
--- BLS certification required.
--- Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard Certification preferred.D. Other
Qualifications:
--- Experience in an aquatic setting required.
--- Required to be a strong swimmer and able to assist others with
less experience while in deep water.
--- Knowledge and understanding of medical conditions that may
compromise participants in a pool exercise program
--- Educated in injuries/conditions and correct performance of
exercises necessary to assist patients with their pool programs;
education in proper posture/body mechanics to avoid injury.
--- Ability to work in a stressful environment.
--- This position requires self-direction/motivation.
--- This position deals with multiple tasks/deadlines at all times
so the individual needs to have excellent organizational/time
management/interpersonal skills and must have a working knowledge
of Beaumont Health's policies/procedures.
--- This position involves handling confidential information.
--- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required, as
well as a professional and courteous demeanor that upholds the
Beaumont Standards for superior customer service.
--- Excellent customer relation and interpersonal skills.
--- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

--- Prolonged swimming or treading water.
--- Breath control to allow being submerged under water or splashed
for brief periods of time.
--- Standing/moving on wet, slippery flooring while performing
duties.

--- Stooping, bending for access of equipment, filing.
--- Reaching to access equipment or assist patients.
--- Fine motor skills (to operate equipment).
--- Motor skills to lift, assist patients.
--- Manual dexterity.
--- Lifting boxes, lifting/pulling pushing while standing.
--- Pushing/Pulling carts, equipment.
--- Visual Demands: Near vision to operate equipment as well as
decipher notes, orders; depth perception, fine discriminate detail
to read monitors/graphs, labels, reports.
--- Acuity/Auditory Demands: distinguish sounds to respond to
patients, staff, equipment, instrumentation, hear speech.
--- Sensory demands: distinguish hot and cold, manual
dexterity.
--- Verbal Demands: make sounds to verbally communicate with
patients or staff what is required, form words, speak loudly, speak
softly.B. Work Environment:
--- Primarily functions in and around a swimming pool with some
time spent in an office environment or therapy clinic.
--- Prolonged exposure to heat, humidity and chlorinated pool water
of a typical swimming pool environment.
--- May handle and/or be exposed to hazardous chemicals used to
