Job Description Summary
As an Industrial Automation Co-Op at our Royal Oak Facility, you will be working within the engineering and maintenance departments as you are attending school at an accredited university or college.

Job Description

Under the direction and supervision of senior level Maintenance Team-members, the Industrial Automation Controls Co-Op will do the following:

  • Assists in the design, testing, installation and maintenance of large-scale electronic equipment or machinery for use in manufacturing. Applications are broad and varied, requiring inclusion of technical and business context and solving of non-routine problems.
  • Provides mechanical and electrical technical support for manufacturing equipment and technology. Monitors and resolves mechanical and equipment problems on the production line.
  • Evaluates control systems, products, components and applications.
  • Prepares and/or reviews electrical hydraulic, and pneumatic controls drawings; collaborates with related engineering teams to evaluate components, materials and suppliers.
  • Keeps equipment operating by performing periodic audits; troubleshooting breakdowns; requesting supplies; defining and reviewing preventive maintenance plans; calling for repairs; and implementing process improvements.
  • Provides information to manufacturing, process, and other engineering disciplines by answering questions and requests.
  • Helps analyze operating environment; looks for and identifies process inefficiencies and wastes of time, money, materials and energy.
  • Coordinates with purchasing and vendors on acquisition and disposal of equipment. Logs and documents production problems. Identifies and reports potential problem areas.
  • Identifies maintenance and reliability problems by observing and studying system functioning and performance results; investigating complaints and suggestions; interviewing process supervisors and operators.
  • Helps implement new & enhanced processes and tools.
  • Ensures facility efficiency and workplace safety.
  • All other duties as assigned.

    Required Skills and Education

    Must be currently enrolled in an accredited university or college.

    Must be authorized to work in the U.S without sponsorship.

    Graduation date of December 2023 or later.

    GPA of 3.0 or higher.
