Job Description
The Dean for School of Nursing, reporting to the Provost, has an
exceptional opportunity to reimagine the School of Nursing at the
undergraduate and graduate levels. The Dean will contribute to the
overall strategic direction of Baker College and be a champion of
academic excellence and be dedicated to student success and the
student experience.
As a strategic thinker, the Dean will identify and evaluate
opportunities for growth and efficiencies while ensuring that
standards align with academic excellence.
Inheriting a talented team of faculty and staff, the Dean will
direct and oversee the New Essentials curricula updates and
accreditation relationship, including the Commission on Collegiate
Nursing Education (CCNE). The Dean must be a transparent,
approachable, thoughtful leader skilled at building
relationships.
A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL:
Manage Nursing program officials in the content area to ensure
compliance with program policies and ensure usage of consistent
curriculum and assessment of course/program resources are updated
and implemented as outlined for each program.
Participate in community outreach; form and sustains lasting
professional partnerships with relevant constituents (community
representatives and professional stakeholders); facilitate
cooperative working relationships with the clinical placement
facilities and establish innovative partnerships
Provide direction and oversight to help ensure that program funds
are managed in accordance with federal regulations and BC policies
and procedures.
Develop, implement, and maintain curriculum in the programs that
respond to community needs, prepares students for success, and
meets the external requirements of specialized accrediting
bodies.
Lead development and implementation of key performance indicators
relative to driving continuous improvement through both assessment
processes and curricular efforts.
Assist the College in determining effective methods for the
integration of curriculum standards, instructional strategies, and
the developmental use of authentic assessment.
Lead the School of Nursing programming, assessment, and
accreditation efforts;
Seek and secure external funding to support scholarly activity, and
coordinate fundraisers, and resource development;
Recruit and maintain a high-quality faculty and support staff, with
a goal of improving diversity;
Develop, implement, and evaluate program goals, objectives,
policies, and services that are consistent with the
mission/philosophy and strategic plan; coordinate program reviews,
and discuss program outcomes in collaboration with appropriate
faculty;

Requirements
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Doctoral degree in Nursing or related field
Michigan RN license and related work experience required
