who reside in Pennsylvania**Maintains and grows a profitable book
of new and renewal business, within assigned territory and within
underwriting authority, consistent with EMC's Small Business
Underwriting Strategy. Applies knowledge and understanding of
coverage forms, rating plans, and underwriting guidelines in the
selection and pricing of individual risks, within underwriting
authority. Develops and fosters agency relationships within
assigned territory. Educates agents on EMC products, underwriting
appetite, systems, and services. Continually enhances expertise in
best practices, expanding knowledge and understanding of coverage
forms, rating plans, and underwriting guidelines. Participates in
the agency planning and review processes with sales and branch
management.Essential Functions:
- Maintains and grows a profitable book of new and renewal
business, within assigned territory and within underwriting
authority, consistent with EMC's Small Business Underwriting
Strategy
- Applies knowledge and understanding of coverage forms, rating
plans, and underwriting guidelines in the selection and pricing of
individual risks, within underwriting authority
- Ensures adequate pricing through proper classification,
accuracy of information, and makes data driven decisions in
managing accounts
- Gathers, analyzes, and evaluates risk exposure through
appropriate risk documentation
- Develops and fosters agency relationships within assigned
territory
- Educates agents on EMC products, underwriting appetite,
systems, and services
- Provides strong customer service, in a fast-paced environment,
consistently meeting expected service levels.
- Collaborates with other underwriters and Sales to ensure
consistency of communications and serviceEducation & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in insurance or business
administration, or equivalent relevant experience
- One year of experience in commercial lines underwriting
- Insurance designations, such as CPCU preferredKnowledge, Skills
& Abilities:
- Good knowledge of underwriting and risk analysis
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound
decisions
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to work effectively with others, as well as
independently
- Ability to maintain high standards of professional
competence
- Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office
and social media
- Ability to work on multiple projects while meeting
deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Occasional travel; a valid driver's license with an acceptable
motor vehicle report per company standards required if traveling
